In many ways, the United Kingdom was the first country to really popularise and integrate sports betting into mainstream culture. The still constantly growing UK betting landscape leaves us with plenty of options!
With new bookmakers seemingly popping up weekly and big players like Ladbrokes dating all the way back to 1886, there’s plenty to get through.
I’ll make it a little easier and ditch the unproven, unreliable and just plain average. Leaving us with a top 5 list, then finally the UK’s Best Betting Site.
Here we go..
William Hill Review
Even if you are a betting amateur, chances are you have heard of William Hill. Founded by a man named, (yep you guessed it), William Hill in 1934, they held the mantle of UK’s biggest bookmaker up until just recently.
William Hill is the great all-rounder. Fairly competitive odds, good range of markets, good promos and a terrific interface. You can’t really go wrong with William Hill.
Where they have been able to separate from the pack is in their live sports streaming and in-play betting. You can even watch their streams with an empty account!
William Hill knows what bettors want and has consistently delivered over a long period.
Pros
- Easy to navigate interface
- Terrific streaming and in-play betting
- Wide range of markets
- Regular promotions
Cons
- Quick to ban users from promotions
- Have been known to limit successful accounts
- Can often find better odds if you shop around

Bet365 Review
Based in the UK, but used almost everywhere in the world. Bet365 is the worlds biggest bookmaker. For good reason.
Put simply, Bet365 have broken apart from competitors because they have the most markets and often the best odds. Any successful sports bettor would have had experience with Bet365, they are a staple of the international sports betting community.
One knock some may have on Bet365, a lack of mouth-watering promotions compared to their competitors. If you have ever been near a TV you would have seen PaddyPower or William Hill offering ludicrous promotions, trying to reel in new customers. You won’t get that to the same extent with Bet365, but you will get consistently good odds on an unmatched number of markets.
What matters more to you?
Pros
- Easy to navigate interface
- Largest range of markets
- Market-leading odds on most events
Cons
- Underwhelming promotions
- Have been known to limit successful accounts

Ladbrokes Review
Here we have the oldest bookmaker, 1886, it is incredibly impressive that they are still delivering the goods 134 years later.
Much like William Hill they have all bases covered. In my experience, you will find slightly more consistent odds on Ladbrokes and slightly better promotions with William Hill.
With the most betting shops in the country and a big marketing and ads campaign, you could be forgiven for thinking they are style over substance. But you’d be wrong, they’ve also put big bucks into developing a seamless interface on both desktop and phone, building a live betting platform that rivals the best, and are always among the quickest at uploading markets.
Oldest, yet still innovating, they’re worth your time and certainly in the conversation of best UK betting sites.
Pros
- Easy to navigate interface
- Great in-play betting
- Wide range of markets
- Regular promotions
Cons
- Have been known to limit successful accounts
- Quick to ban users from promotions

Unibet Review
Unibet is huge, like really huge. Yet they’ve only just started to smash their way into the UK market. They have been the European colossus for quite some time. If you like your European markets or your football, look no further.
Unibet isn’t quite like the others on this list. They aren’t that old, they aren’t that loud, and they aren’t quite as well known. That is if you’re from the UK, if you’ve lived in mainland Europe then you know their presence and you may also know that they quite clearly offer the most European markets. And the most football markets, You’ll see them take over the UK in the coming years.
Coming from a different place, you get a different approach. Alternate markets and some unique interfaces are refreshing in an online betting industry that is seeing everyone become more similar. One small gripe I have is the limited support options in comparison with other UK bookmakers.
I think Unibet deserves a standing alongside the very best, watch it grow even bigger in the coming years.
Pros
- Unique markets
- Worlds most football markets
- Top of the range odds
- The most European sports markets
Cons
- Limited support options
- Have been known to limit successful accounts

Paddy Power Review
Paddy Power is the class clown. Everyone knows them, everyone laughs with them, everyone sees their value but no one really takes them seriously. Maybe you should.
Yes, they have funny ads and some hilariously absurd promotions. But whos laughing when those promotions are profitable and daily? There is money to be made with Paddy Power, mostly on promotions. But they do also boast a wide range of markets and could be compared to a William Hill/Ladbrokes in many ways.
Come for the promotions, stay for terrific interface and wide range of markets. But mostly come for the promotions.
Pros
- Easy to navigate interface
- Market-leading promotions
Cons
- Better odds can be found
- Have been known to limit successful accounts
- Quick to ban users from promotions

Best Overall
I’m sorry I have to cheat.
Yes, if you want the best all-round betting experience with a huge range of markets and the best odds on average, it’s just got to be Bet365. If football is your thing and you think there is money to be made on the European markets, Unibet, no doubt. But if you want to smash some promotions to get that bankroll ticking over, Paddy Power has no equal.
But most importantly, if you have an account with only one of these bookmakers – you’re a fool.
Every one of the above sites will ban you if you win too consistently, and every one of them will at some point have the best odds on a market you have found value in. Do not lock yourself into one betting site.
Get all of the above, and other reliable bookmakers if you find them. Use OddsChecker or another odds comparison tool to find the best odds and make sure you are extracting every inch of value out of your system. A couple of % could be the difference between a profitable or an unsuccessful Value Betting System.
Best of luck and happy (value)betting!
